what I've been working on

It's Spring Break here. I love it! Having my girls home from school every day is pretty dreamy, the sun has been shining, and we've been having fun with birthdays and crafts and small excursions. I've also been able to carve out some time to sew.

Avery celebrated her 12th birthday earlier this week with a day of skiing.

Her gift was a new mountain bike, so I thought I'd make her a cute bike basket using Anna's bicycle bucket tutorial. I enlarged it to 125%, very poorly I might add. And although I made the design work, it turns out that a bike basket does not work on a mountain bike with all of the cables and reflector on the front. Oops. But it's cute.

I finally made Avery the two pairs of flannel pajama pants I've been promising her since Kids Clothing Week last October. I used the pattern from Heather Ross' book, Weekend Sewing. Easy peasy, once the pattern pieces were traced and cut. That is not my favorite part of sewing clothes.

I've cut fabrics for a sweet baby quilt for my first niece who is due to arrive in June. The entire color palette is based off that front floral, which is Blossom Festival from Rashida Coleman-Hale's Tsuru line. These squares will be sewn into half square triangles. Simple but pretty.

I purchased the book Liberty Love from Alexia herself and it's fabulous! My first project is the famous Marcelle Medallion that is all over the place right now. I've cut the pieces for the center medallion, and I feel the colors are very much in line with what I love-- mustards, greens, and blues. I'm really excited about this one!

We've also added two pets to our family this week-- meet Obi Wan, Cooper's blue beta, and Pluto, Avery's leopard gecko.

We have a full house, that's for sure. But it's a happy one. I hope you're having a great week!

I made this basket, too, and my daughter still uses it. Your's is pretty.
I made the center block for the medallion quilt, too, and am almost done with turning it into a pillow. 'Though I'm tempted to make the whole quilt. *sigh* But when?
