That 70s Quilt

70s quilt

I finished up a quilt that has been languishing on the shelf for months. I cut the squares over a year ago, pieced most of the top at my retreat in November, and then felt kind of blah about it. Yesterday I decided to get it done. I started basting at 12:30 and was done quilting and binding by 5:30. Not bad with a toddler running around!

That 70s Quilt

It's pieced from 5 1/2 inch squares of prints that I really love separately. Together, I'm not so sure anymore. It reminds me of 70s decor. Maybe it will speak to me again this autumn? At this point I'm just glad it's finished. Not everything can be a masterpiece!

I love it - maybe because we are coming into autumn down here. Some of my favourite fabrics in there.

Not NEARLY enough puke brown for it to be too 70s. I love it - there's something to be said for simple patchwork + fabrics you love.

Love - love - love. I agree about the beauty of simple random patchwork - everytime I see one I love one, yet I hate it when I Try to make one. Apparently I just need to jump in like you and will hopefully have a beautiful quilt to snuggle afterward.

ps. not 70s.. not pukey enough like someone else said lol - def. way more awesome and not at all pukey :)

i like it! but yes, good to point out that we can't all make stuff we love all the time. ahem, my t-shirt quilt that I had to chain myself to my chair to complete. Makes you really enjoy the stuff you think is a success though, right?!

I think it's really pretty. You're so right about not everything being a masterpiece. I'm sure we've all experienced that.

what a beautiful quilt...you can't beat beautiful simplicity. As for leaving projects lying around for a while, I have just got a second wind with something i started over a year ago...here's hoping it doesn't take a full other year to finish!

I think quilts that are not so "precious" have more fun, go more places and feel more love. I could be wrong but that's what I think.

I really like it. I am working on something right now and I feel the same way. Everyone (my mom, sil, friends) keep telling me that it looks so cool and so just trust me because I do think your is cool. I still don't trust my friends, lol. Strangers opinions you can trust :)

I think it is lovely and maybe for you it is more of sitting/lying cuddling enjoy it close up quilt instead of one you look at from a distance.

I also really like this. The layout makes the colors and prints both pop and flow at the same time, if that makes any sense.
