backpacking

We just got back from our first family backpacking trip.

We really lucked out with the weather-- the forecast called for cloudy skies and rain showers. We were so sure of getting wet that we stopped to get Claire a new coat on the way out of town. But we had beautiful sunny skies on our way out! The views were breathtaking. We had very few bugs. The cabin was amazing. And the hike back today was just foggy. We feel very lucky.

(didn't you know spray cheese is the ultimate backpacking food?)

Back here at home we've got our rain though. (Big surprise.) Time for naps and laundry! School starts in two days and there's a LOT to do. Hope you had a good one!

super fun!! Good luck with the back to school routine - we've still got 3 more weeks of summer. Goes by fast, doesn't it?

this is awesome!!! my husband did some serious hiking while we lived there. He did Crow Pass with some friends and had such a great time. I love your hiking food and the little tiny bottles of wine.

I'm with Leslie. Love the food and wine. Do you rent that cabin? It's not your normal cabin. Do you pack in lanterns? I've never backpacked like that. I trailer with everything including the kitchen sink!

what wonderful family memories!! When I was a kid, we used to backpack into the mountains and sleep out under the stars next to lakes full of trout and bass. Loved it! Your kids will always treasure those days.
