get ready to sing...

I just finished up my quilt for Doll Quilt Swap 11. I need to say right away that I was completely inspired, pretty much to the point of copying, Nettie's Rainbow Geese quilt. It is amazing. When I recover from this teeny version, I might have a go at pulling out my fabric stash again to make a big one just like her's. If you haven't checked it out yet, you must!

My quilt top is made out of 96 flying geese that each finish out at 1 x 2 inches when sewn together, making the overall size 12 x 16 inches. Although right now there are 96 flying geese, I've got 3 more on the label that will be stitched to the back to make it 99. I had to bring the count to 99 so I could name this quilt the obnoxious "99 Bright Flying Geese on the Wall." I could not shake the song "99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall" that kept playing in my head while I was sewing these things up, but with the words changed to be about the geese. "Trim one down, toss the scraps around, 96 bright flying geese on the wall" etc. What can I say, teeny piecing like this makes me a bit delirious. Do you have this song in your head now? I hope so. I don't want to be the only one singing it.

Including the white, backing fabric, and the other 3 geese (one is a repeat of a front goose), there are 100 fabrics in this baby. All from my stash! Yikes.

It's pouring rain today and DARK in our house, so a wall photo just wasn't working. My quilt model was less than enthused about her photo shoot today, but I got her with the rapid fire shots.

It's amazing, Krista! There is one lucky recipient out there who will be delighted to get this beautiful quilt! I love rainbows and am working on a color wheel quilt so appreciate the challenge it is creating just the right rainbow from your stash.

Firstly I love love love the quilt top. Secondly, what is that backing fabric? Its fab. Thirdly, I do the exact same thing with the songs - whenever I sew with Happy Mochi Yum Yum, I have that Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep song going round in my head with Happy Mochi Yum Yum substituted. Fourthly your slideshow os the photos is the cutest thing EVER with your daughter laughing and having her t-shirt pulled at. And fifthly how do you do that wonderful slide show thing?!

99 is a great number in Chinese. It means "forever," so for weddings, pple will writ $199.99 or $99.99 for people as gift.... Forever happiness:)
