a quick neutral baby quilt

My cousin Becky is due to have her first baby in October. She and her husband are leaving the gender a surprise, which would have driven me bonkers before I had Cooper. But now that I've had that experience myself, I appreciate it and enjoy gifting things that are gender neutral but fun. (I got so tired of finding only pale yellow and green options out there.)

This quilt was born out of procrastination since the shower tonight snuck up on me. I think the rush worked to my advantage though, because it forced me to do something very simple. This came together in about 3 hours this morning. With 45 minutes left before I had to leave, I decided I could put the finished quilt on the 20-minute "speed wash" to make it all crinkly. Well, 20 minutes turned into 40 minutes when the spin cycle just kept going, so I had to take the wet quilt and finish it off in my aunt's dryer!

The fabrics all came from my stash. The backing is an Alexander Henry print that I have had for a long time and loved, but never really knew what to do with. I was thrilled to find it in the stacks and it worked perfectly!

Becky loved the quilt. She's going to be an incredible mom! And I'm so excited to snuggle that baby this fall!

Fabulous quilt Krista! You have been a sewing fool lately. I guess that having the girls back to school is giving you more time during naps!

How great it must have felt to finish and entire quilt in a morning! Now all it needs is the baby to complete the picture!
