jack's jungle quilt

I finally got baby Jack's quilt in the wash today so I could take a photo. It's yummy!

Rob promised me that using that zebra print was in no way girly or weird. I sure hope that little Jack's parents agree.

Katrina, I hope you like how it turned out!

In other news, this little guy is lucky he's so cute, because he has reverted back to waking up every hour at night.

It's making me (and Rob) deliriously tired to say the least. Obviously he's eating enough...

But maybe it's teething? 5 month developmental craziness? I'm trying to read "The No-Cry Sleep Solution" for help, but honestly I'm so tired I can't even figure out what it's telling me to do! Any advice you've got is more than welcome.

oh good grief! every hour!!!! teething is definitely possibility, huh? are you sending him to bed with Motrin to see if that changes this behavior? I had a baby like this too...i just kept telling myself it was a phase and would pass. oh, but he sure is sooo cute!

I _love_ the baby quilt you made!

My complete sympathy on the every-hour-awake conundrum! :P We did the family bed 'thing' when my children were tiny and that took care of most problems we had. :)

Lovely quilt!

Things that worked a bit for us when our son was waking every hour or so... (And while knowing that it's developmentally okay doesn't actually make it any easier...)

Co-sleeping! My husband was pretty anti-family bed until we tried it. Now he wouldn't have it any other way. <3 Like Linda said, it solved SO many of our nighttime issues!

Hyland's teething tablets. They're all natural, dye-free and dissolve on contact with saliva. We heart them. They also work pretty much instantly and don't cause any of the issues that an OTC medicine will. (ie: they're actually *safe* for a baby)

An amber teething necklace. I was highly skeptical when we were gifted one, and now I absolutely swear by them. Get one that's made from Baltic amber. The amber releases a small amount succinic acid when warmed by the skin, which works as a natural analgesic and anti-inflammatory. (Again, knocking out the need for dangerous OTC meds.)

Do you wear him at all? It won't necessarily help with the night waking, but might keep him a little more relaxed so that he's not waking so much at night because he needs touch or attention or or or. Also, if you *are* still getting up at night, wearing him might get him back to sleep faster.

My sister's kids both did really well gnawing on a cotton cloth (wash cloth sized) that had been dipped in water and then frozen. My son never took to it, but it worked like a dream for my niece and nephew.

Lots and lots of nursing on demand also got us through some tough sleep patches. (Heck, it's gotten us through touch patches in general!)

Good luck to you! I know it's tough!

The Quilt is great!Tracy Hogg, Secrets of The Baby Whisperer. That book has been like a bible for me for both my kids. I gave it away aftr the first one and went and bought another after so many days of sleep deprevation!! Good luck! You Can find it at title wave!

look at that face!

we had an amber necklace for teething... don't know if it's hocus pocus, but we never had any problem with that. And I'm afraid to say we used the controlled crying method. (2 minutes, then 4 then 8 then 12 then 16... which we never reached by the way) I know it's frowned upon now, but we never had to do it for more than 1 night. 1 night. sorted, and it worked for all three of the boys. Which are now happy and healthy and still love their mummy!!!

Oh, I feel for you. I can still see you have retained your sense of humour through the exhaustion - the 'obviously he's getting enough to eat' split screen photos are hilarious. It's so hard to give advice...every family has to find their own way. I hope it's just a growth spurt, or a tooth, or something else that won't last too long. We gave up and brought our kids to bed. My daughter didn't leave until she was 4 tho. That was tiring!

Oh! and Rob was right, the zebra print is fantastic! Great visual interest. Love this quilt.

OMG...he's absolutely ADORABLE!! And those cheeks the thighs need squeezed!!

I had some chunkly little guys, too. Seemed that when they were going through a growing phase, they would wake up a lot, too. But...I nursed them and knew I'd be back to bed in 10 minutes max.

Hello! I just tripped across you blog! I love the blanket and your baby is adorable.

We tried "No-Cry Sleep Solution" and had no luck. If you don't have success, you might try "Good Night, Sleep Tight" by The Sleep Lady. It worked for us and I will forever preach that Sleep Lady's gospel.

Good luck! I'm so happy I found your site : )
