Clothespin Kids Pouch

Yesterday I had about an hour of precious nap time left after dealing with things around the house, so I set to making. I didn't have a plan. I just sat down at my machine and sewed. It felt SO GOOD.

And I made this pouch, for me.

A few months ago I received the four little clothespin doll cutouts in the mail from Cathy, who might be one of the most thoughtful and kind people in the whole world. She doesn't know me beyond some small conversations on flickr or Instagram, yet she took the time to find out that I have four children-- three daughters and a son-- and cut out these bits of cuteness for me.  I didn't want them to get lost or ruined, so I've had them stuck on my design wall this whole time. I'm so glad I finally have them sewn onto something I can carry with me as a reminder of not just my lovely babies, but also the kindness of others.

Notes:

I construct all of my pouches using techniques I learned from Elizabeth Hartman's Perfect Zip Bags pattern. This pouch measures about 8.5" wide by 6.5" high. I used a no-longer-available (sniff!) grey Japanese solid for the top sections, Heather Ross Nursery Versery Penny Patch for the bottoms, and a yellow DS Quilts print for the lining. The metal zipper is from zipit.

So, so cute! What you did with the clothespin print and the accent hand-stitching is just adorable. I have about a quarter yard of that very fabric, just waiting to be cut into. After seeing this little creation of yours, I think I've definitely got some inspiration now.

What a wonderful gift to yourself Krista - both the zippy and the time to sew - I love the embroidery accent and the use of the little portraits.
