catch up

It seems like every week I tell myself I'll do at least a couple of blog posts. Then life gets in the way. The posts don't get written. And when I do get to this space, I don't know where to start.

Even though I haven't been posting, I've sewn a ton over the last month. Last weekend I had a booth at a huge local bazaar and spent every spare minute getting ready for it! I'm happy to say I had a blast. Avery and Claire came with me to set up and were a huge help, Charlotte did fine without me (it was the first time leaving her for more than a couple of hours), I sold a good amount of things, and people there were SO NICE. It always feels good to have adult conversations about things that I love to do.

I do have a few zip pouches and bags left over that I'll post to my etsy shop in the next few days, if you're interested.

This weekend I had hoped to take advantage of Rob being out of town by getting my disaster of a sewing room cleaned up and catching up on bee blocks (I have 8 to do to get current, plus 3 for November, omg), but Cooper got a nasty cold and cough, then pukes, that changed my plans. I won't lie-- it was frustrating. I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed at the moment by all the things that I need and WANT to do. After the craft bazaar I decided I wanted to refocus. My kids are growing so fast-- I need more one on one time with them. My house needs cozying for winter. I need to start exercising (nursing may melt the pounds, but it doesn't replace the muscle loss!). And I want to spend more quality time with Rob. I've had moments where I've considered giving up sewing and quilting altogether. But that's not something I can do. Alicia Paulson wrote the other day that knitting is like her multivitamin-- without it, she feels unbalanced. That's how I feel about my making. So I'll keep on trying to catch up, in the early mornings and spare moments of my days. And eventually I'll get caught up here too. Thanks for continuing to stop in and read.

  2. Oh, look at that little sweetie pie! Your booth looks incredible. You sure have been busy. One on one time is so hard to manage isn't it? My littlest gets plenty of it but it is harder to make it work with the older kids because someone has to be watching the little one! I get it. Hang in there.

  5. The great thing about blogging is that you can do it when and if you want. No strings. Rocks, doesn't it?

You clearly have good reasons to hamper you, as well! I wouldn't get anything blogged with that sweet baby face looking at me… :-)

  6. funny, I look back to when the kids were young (*really* young), and I can't even imagine having found the time (read: energy) to sew then. my 'little' guy will soon be 9 and I only began to create the time to devote to *me* during the past year or two. I'm in awe. please (please!), take the time that you need for all of your little ones, your marriage, your own sanity. we will be here, waiting patiently (and excitedly).

  11. Wow, she is so cute and that is a great picture of you together. It sounds like the craft fair was fun, even if the weekend was less so.

  12. I completely understand what you're talking about. It's exactly what I feel. Frustration. Not being able to make Christmas presents or even birthday presents in time (or just have some fun time to relax). And on the other hand the little ones grow so fast. Linnea turns 3 next month and Erik just became 6 months old. Where did the time go? Hope you find your way and hopefully I find mine, too.

  14. I feel just like you! I signed up for a bazaar when my baby was newborn and just laying around. Now I have a almost four month old and almost four year old and am trying to sew like mad! I am struggling with the balance, and my blog has taken a hit as well. Here's to trying as hard as we can! And letting some things go!

  15. Oh that cute little face! We had a blizzard warning today from NOAA weather here in Kodiak. After midnight now and a little snow and blowing hard. Maybe the snow will be a little later than they said. You guys will get it next if it follows usual patterns (Sun. Night) Give yourself a break, Mommy. N
