Blogger's Quilt Festival- Fall 2012

It's that time of the year again! Amy at Amy's Creative Side has organized the super fun Blogger's Quilt Festival.  I'm squeaking in under the wire with a brand new finish!

This is the 3rd version of my Modern Mountains quilt, which was commissioned by a local woman for her new baby daughter's nursery. I used softer colors than the original quilt, but still used mostly shot cottons with a few subtle prints thrown in for fun. I decided to just use improvisational piecing for most of it, but used the mountain templates that I created for the pattern in 101 Patchwork Projects magazine.

I hope you like it! Make sure to check out the other amazing quilts in the Festival. Now that I'm done with some of my work, I'm going to sit back and peruse through too!

Very nice. I love the texture of all the different quilting styles. Improv still is a mystery to me. You seem to have it well mastered!

Woohoo, just under the wire! So glad to see this edition of your awesome free pieced mountains. One day I'll have to put my shot collection to good use and make a version, too. I just love it.
