Friday Felicities

Yay for Friday! My friend Felicity over at Felicity Quilts has started a link-up for her sunny weekly posts that she calls "Friday Felicities." I've decided to join in when I can, because it feels good to focus on the positives. Mine this week:

1. Sewing is happening regularly again, although in five minute increments here and there.

I sewed up some drawstring bags (free tutorial from Jeni at In Color Order) for Avery and her friends when they took a knitting class last weekend.

Drawstring bags a la @jenib320 for Avery and her friends to take to knitting class today!

And just today I finished my Sidekick Tote (pattern by Anna of Noodlehead). It's made of a black chambray, mustard Echino dots, and a favorite Anna Maria Horner LouLouthi print.

It was super fun to learn how to do a recessed zipper, which is something that I've always wanted to try. Thanks for the great pattern Anna!

I won't lie-- I wish I had more time to make things. Between school runs with Avery and Claire, keeping Cooper out of mischief, and needing to hold Charlotte pretty much all day, I have very few free moments.

But I'm not complaining because...

2. At 2 months old, Charlotte is sleeping 9-10 hours straight at night. If you have an infant who is not doing this, please don't hate me. Cooper woke up every 2 hours for over a year. Claire did too. When other people would say that their breastfed babies were sleeping through the night this young, I thought they were lying. But I guess miracles do happen! So this time around I'm grateful for the sleep.

3. I was able to sign up to go to QuiltCon in February! I'm registered for textile printing classes with Lizzy House and Lotta Jansdotter and a freezer paper piecing class with Penny! I'm so psyched and looking forward to meeting so many online friends in person. I was worried about what I would do with Charlotte while we're there, but my mom decided she wants to fly down with me to watch her! My ever-wonderful mother-in-law will be helping Rob with the kids back home. I'm so thankful to have family who is so supportive of my hobbies. I'm a lucky duck.

Tuesday night races

Have a great weekend! We're expecting snow. Snow! But I won't go into that, because this is supposed to be a positive post after all...

I love that bag. I think you've convinced me I need that pattern and that I need a new bag.

So pleased that you're able to swing QuiltCon!! I'm so looking forward to seeing you again (another Friday felicity for me!).

And that beautiful Charlotte is going easy on Mama with the sleeping thing. Good on 'er! :)

Charlotte looks so cute as do the rest of your kids. And I am so excited to get to meet you in person.

I have one of those bags all cut out to sew today - yours is lovely! And one out of my three babies slept through at that age too (breast fed). The others woke up every 20 minutes (well, it felt like it!) for at least 6 months. Unfortunately, mine was my first, so I thought it was normal! Ha!!

What great bags - I really love Anna's pattern.
Isn't Charlotte growing up so very quickly, and isn't she such a cutie snuggled up in thoes quilts ;o)

Just found you through Jeni B's blog! You are one of her favorites from Flickr from yesterday's post. I live in the San Diego area, 1/2 mile from the beach, and they are predicting 90 degrees tomorrow, so snow and cold sound REALLY positive to me right now. Love your blog and am going to subscribe. Great kids. Breastfeeding is great, isn't it! My "baby", who's 28, was breastfed for 31/2 years....I guess I was ahead of the trend, but she is so healthy she never missed a day of school from 6th grade through high school graduation, and now is about to finish up her masters degree. I like to think I helped her along....8-)

My first slept like that too...not so much my second. She wouldn't sleep more than 2-3 hours at a stretch until she was past the age of 2. *SOB*

Isn't it amazing how once you are commited to something all kinds of things happen to support your decision? I am so glad your mom and mom-in-law are helping your dream of quilt con come true.
Charlotte is adorable and growing so fast! Wishing you time for stitching.

I want to get that bag pattern too. Charlotte is adorable (I'm partial to that name, too, because I have a granddaughter named Charlotte). Funny you didn't say anything bad about snow (snow!) because today in the central valley of California it's supposed to be 102. Again. I could say some really negative things about that...
