Ski4Kids

Avery and Claire did the Ski4Kids this morning at Kincaid. It was their first year participating, so they opted to do the 1K instead of the 3K. Well, both girls cruised through it and beat the snowshoe hare mascot that was leading the race. Avery beat out the whole pack and crossed the finish line first! Next year they'll definitely be doing the 3K. I'm amazed at how much their skills have improved this season! Best of all they had a ton of fun, which is the whole reason we do this stuff.

We took the van. Rob popped the top and had a heater going. Even the dogs joined us. Awesome day so far.

why I'm too chicken to go out for walks...

This mama moose and her baby have been hanging out in the neighborhood the last few days.

On a crafty note, I got these gocco lamps in the mail yesterday. I thought the way that Northwoods Studios packed them up was so cute. Kind of like Easter eggs.

cabin weekend

We headed up to the cabin this weekend. It was the first trip that we had all taken as a family since last fall, and the first time I felt ready to take Cooper. It was really nice to just get out of the house and spend time together.



We played a couple of games of Pictureka, read books, and Rob and the girls went for a ski.



The conditions were pretty icy with the warm weather (it got into the 40s- yikes) so Cooper and I just joined everyone for a walk after they got back.



The garage door people have already been by this morning to replace the panel I ran into. I'm going to take care of some neglected housework, then hit the sewing machine. It's turning out to be super easy to sew up the batik log cabins when I've got a few minutes of free time.

I just need to bind the family placemats. That's usually one of my favorite things to do, but I've got less hands-free time these days. Of course I would have had more time today for sewing if I didn't have to deal with this:



Sadly, this isn't the first garage door I've backed into. Just the first brand new one, and the first since I've been married. So glad I have a husband with a sense of humor...

Dang

I've been busted twice now by Claire for eating her Valentine's candy. And because we're teaching lessons in honesty lately around here, I've had to own up to it each time. Long gone are the days when the girls would forget about their candy in the pantry! I better learn to control my chocolate urges.

Luckily I can sew a bit with this little guy sleeping on me in the baby bjorn. Not ideal, but we make it work!
